Tuffets with Kerin – Session 1 of 2
March 7, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
$70Instructor: Kerin Ferrin
2 Sessions [First session 3 hours, Second session (3/14/17) 4 hours]
Skill Level: Confident Beginner and Beyond
Tuffets are a touch of whimsy for your home that blend with all decors and bridge the gap between design and function. In addition to being heirloom home accents, they make treasured gifts for special occasions including weddings, new babies, anniversaries and special birthdays.
Choose just (8) 1/4 yard cuts or a Jelly Roll and during the first session, learn to sew a beautiful tuffet cover. During the second class session, turn that cover into an upholstered footstool. Come to class with (64) 2” x 21” strips in fabrics of your choice along with the other supplies on your Supply List.
A Tuffet Finishing Kit includes a “furniture quality”, 17” diameter wood round, drilled and sanded, upholstery foam,18” circle/ 6” deep, Dacron batting 40” square, half dome 2 1/2” button form, t nuts and gathering cords. The Finishing Kit fee is $80.
A selection of Bun feet are also available for separate purchase. Bun feet are $30 for 4.
The Finishing Kit fee of $80 and Bun feet fee of $30 (if chosen) is payable to the instructor at the first class session (this is in addition to your class fee and supplies needed to make one tuffet)
Although this is Confident Beginner and Beyond class, you will need to have working knowledge of your sewing machine, be able to thread it, adjust tension and adjust stitch width and selection. Your sewing machine must also do a zig zag stitch in order to complete the project. The first session is 3 hours (you will be sewing on your sewing
machine) and the second session is 4 hours (you will be upholstering and assembling your tuffet.)
Please note, class fees do not include patterns or materials. Please be sure to obtain your supplies prior to your class as there is not time built into the class for shopping. Please note there will be some preparation before class (ironing fusible pattern onto muslin and cutting out pattern) and some sewing to complete during the week between classes.
You will take home a completed Tuffet at the end of your second session!
