The Art & Science of Choosing Fabrics – Or – The Color Class! Class 2
June 3, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm$85
Instructor: Heidi Edwards Dunn
Learn how to choose fabrics that do more than “go together” – with less frustration. At the end of the class, you will be more prepared to walk into a quilt store and zero in on fabrics that work for your current project, identify the perfect accent color in your stash, and find inspiration for your own quilts.
We start by helping you think about color and the relationships of colors. Consider a few “scientific” principles, and choosing colors becomes less overwhelming. Next, we add in the fun part – how fabrics work together. We’ll show how the emotional and inspirational aspects of choosing fabrics make your quilts reflect you. Of course, then we give you a chance to put it all together, with input from the class, if you wish it. You can start with an inspiration fabric, quilt or photo, and build your quilt’s palette of possible fabrics from your stash and Quilted Threads.
The Art & Science of Choosing Fabrics is a 2-class series. Class 1 is on Saturday, June 2, and Class 2 is on Sunday, June 3.
It is a no-sew class, however, interactive samples will reinforce class concepts. This class is appropriate for both beginner quilters with some experience, and more seasoned quilters. Get more comfortable choosing your own quilt fabrics. It’s fun!
The class fee includes a small materials kit.
About Heidi: Heidi Edwards Dunn has lived in Henniker with her family for 20 years. She has been quilting for longer than that, and learned to sew oh, so many more years before that from her mom. Heidi is a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen, and her work has hung in exhibits in the region. She now mostly makes framed wall art quilts, and has started Dynamic Quilting, teaching quilters about color and fabric online. Heidi loves walking into Quilted Threads and dreaming of all the fabric combinations possible for all the quilts she doesn’t have time to make. www.dynamicquilting.com
