Designed by Pam Buda, this quilt is a celebration of Americana, and bursts with patriotic pride! As a unique row quilt, the design features a vertical “quilter’s flag” and six horizontal star rows. The center row features several flag/star blocks and patriotic pinwheels, along with the option of appliqued “America” and stars. The fabric collection, Star Spangled Liberty, was designed especially for this quilt and features a beautiful array of classic red, light, and blue prints.
Pam explains some of the program’s special features:
“Participants also enjoy some early American anecdotal history in the pages of the program about our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, the Pledge of Allegiance, Old Glory flag facts, and about Betsy Ross, who played an epic role in the birth of the new nation. It truly warms my heart knowing how fabric, needle and thread, in the hands of a skilled needlewoman such as Betsy, has had such a lasting impact on our nation, and the world, in every century since her first colonial flag was completed, as Old Glory is recognized everywhere by everyone!”
Available in two versions, with the center “America” applique row or with the center pieced row, the pattern will be exclusive to this program and will never be sold separate from the BOM.
• No special rulers are required; the instructions employ modern rotary cutting and piecing techniques, but it assumes participants have knowledge of the applique method of their choice, should they select the center row appliqued version.
• There is no finishing kit or “big” piecing job at the end, as construction of the quilt is ongoing with rows being added as they are completed.
• A bonus project is included for use of leftover scraps!
