December 03, 2009 - Beginning in January 2010, Quilted Threads will be participating in the Civil War Tribute Block-of-the-Month Program offered by Marcus Fabrics. In anticipation of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in 2011, Marcus has collaborated with Homestead Hearth to produce a stunning BOM quilt using beautiful reproduction fabrics designed by Judy Rothermel. Marcus describes the program and collection of fabrics as follows:
The 50-piece collection is designed by Judie Rothermel, offering quilters an exciting blend of authentic colors and motifs of the period.
The collection encompasses a varied palette that combines the historical accuracy and the current appeal for which Judie Rothermel is well known. The two lead prints are an antiqued toile look and a drama print denoting key Civil War battle locations.
Central to the collection is Marcus’ block-of-the-month project collaboration with quilt design company Homestead Hearth. Their quilt design highlights a variety of sawtooth and star blocks, the perfect showcase for 48 of the collection’s 50 prints. The result is a beautifully detailed quilt measuring a generous 100" x 112".
“With the overall heightened interest in quilts as a form of historical documentation, coupled with the sesquicentennial Civil War events now being planned, we offer the Civil War Tribute Collection as the right collection at the right time, not only for quilters, but also for re-enactment groups and history buffs, keepsake crafters and others as well,” says Stephanie Dell’ Olio, president of Marcus’ retail division.
The cost of the program is $23.99 per month (plus shipping, if applicable) for 12 months, and is for sale now at Quilted Threads. We have a limited number of kits available and encourage you to reserve your first month's block soon!
